Michael, a native of Danville, brings to Clement & Wheatley a variety of experiences in science and healthcare. His law practice focuses on business law and health law, representing closely held businesses, physician groups, hospitals, institutional review board, assisted living facilities, community service boards, banks, real estate developers, charitable foundations, and local government agencies.
During his time at the University of Virginia, Michael completed the pre-med curriculum and conducted research in engineering and in gastroenterology. During law school at the University of Richmond, Michael worked at the University of Richmond Mental Disabilities Law Clinic and was an extern at the Medical Society of Virginia. For many years, Michael has been active as a member and officer of the Health Law Council of the Virginia Bar Association, whose activities include community service projects, legislative initiatives, continuing education programs, and publications. In addition to activities in healthcare field, Michael has been active in other civic and community activities in Southside Virginia.
In the Virginia State Bar, which regulates the practice of law in Virginia, Michael has received appointments to the Executive Committee, Bar Council, Nominating Committee, Budget & Finance Committee and the Diversity Task Force.
